Job summary

Mercy Health in Warren, OH seeks a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) at St. Joseph Warren Hospital to perform routine tests on blood and tissue, providing physicians with high-quality results using a range of clinical laboratory equipment.

The MLS must ensure patient safety and maintain anonymity throughout the testing process. The role requires a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) and MLS certification (or eligible), with externship preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a CLIA approved program (required).
• MLS certification or eligible by ASCP or equivalent (required).
• Externship program completed (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient and accurate manner per procedures.
• Determines acceptability of specimens by visual inspection and recognizing abnormal results.
• Performs quality control and ensures results meet established ranges before reporting.
• Maintains a safe and efficient work area, troubleshoots equipment as needed.
