Job summary

Atrium Health in the Greater Charlotte area seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinical operations across multiple divisions. The role requires completing an accredited MA program or equivalent training and active BLS may be required (per location).

You will perform rooming, vital signs, EHR documentation, labs, immunizations, and patient education while cooperating with providers and care teams to maintain safety and efficiency. This position emphasizes accuracy and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent.
• May have completed structured military training clinical in nature per DD214 or EMT as alternate.
• CMA/RMA certification paths listed for various divisions.
• System competency and trainer program completion required.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to MA scope of practice and policies; maintains competency.
• Supports daily workflow and staffing needs; schedules, orders, audits.
• Assists with training and onboarding of teammates.
• Supports quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives.
• Performs rooming tasks: vitals, med reconciliation, history, screenings.
• Assists with procedures and lab duties; POCT and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines following medication rights.
• Completes other duties: refills, authorizations, scheduling, referrals.
• Maintains clean, stocked work environment and equipment readiness.
• Communicates effectively and escalates as needed.
