Job summary

Atrium Health in the Greater Charlotte area is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform rooming tasks, gather medical histories, and assist with procedures. You will conduct vital signs, medication reconciliation, and health maintenance activities, while supporting labs and point-of-care testing according to CLIA standards.

The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent, with strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent.
• Clinical competency in medical assisting including vital signs, history taking, immunizations, and basic procedures.
• Ability to perform venipuncture, specimen handling, and basic lab duties within CLIA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and clinic policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vitals, med reconciliation, medical history, allergies, screenings.
• Assists providers with procedures as ordered.
• Performs venipuncture, specimen handling, and POCT per orders; tracks results.
• Administers medications and vaccines following rights of administration.
• Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Cross-trained for duties within clinic scope.
• Maintains clean environment and properly stocked spaces.
• Provides age-appropriate care and communicates escalation as needed.
