Job summary

CesiumAstro seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead spacecraft mechanical design across all development phases, from concept to in-orbit support. You will mentor engineers and guide cross-functional teams to deliver robust, flight-ready structures for space platforms.

The role requires deep hands-on CAD/FEA experience, excellent communication, and a track record of ownership in multiple flight missions. A startup mindset and collaboration with various subsystems are essential.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 11 years of experience in communications satellite structures and mechanisms design from concept to decommissioning.
• At least 5 years of experience leading technical teams.
• Experience with structural analysis and environmental test campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for mechanical aspects of spacecraft, subsystems, and interfaces through all development phases.
• Deliver robust, manufacturable designs from concept through space flight including requirements definition, trades, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, testing and in-orbit support.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams and present design reviews to customers and executives.
