Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead Mechanical Engineer in the United States. The role requires a BS/MSE with ABET accreditation and deep experience in mechanical design for nuclear environments. You will manage budgets, schedules, and client relations while leading multidiscipline teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Hybrid work is available combining home and office time. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• ABET-accredited BSME/MSME degree.
• 15 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience.
• 5 years as a firm/client liaison in lead roles.
• Experience designing piping, pressure vessels, HVAC, or nuclear handling systems.
• Working knowledge of ASME B31, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, AG-1.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team and manage schedules and budgets.
• Experience CAD software as listed above; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidiscipline project execution with cross-discipline coordination.
• Own project performance including safety, schedule, budget, and client experience.
• Develop budgets, schedules, and work plans; monitor progress within budget.
• Prepare and review complex calculations and mechanical designs.
• Prepare design inputs for drawings (P&IDs, layouts, GA).
• Prepare and review equipment specifications and vendor communications.
• Prepare reports/studies and mentor junior engineers.
