Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead Mechanical Engineer in our Government Services Division in the United States. The role combines design leadership with hands-on analysis for piping, pressure vessels, HVAC, and radioactive material handling systems, on a hybrid schedule.

Strong communication and mentorship are essential for collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. Candidates should have an ABET-accredited BSME/MSME, 10 years of related experience, and the ability to obtain a US government

Qualifications

BSME or MSME degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program with interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, machine design, or thermal systems.
10 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, preferably in a nuclear environment.
Experience producing engineering designs and analysis for piping, pressure vessels, HVAC, and/or radioactive material handling systems.
Working knowledge of ASME B31, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, ASME AG-1.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design engineering efforts on a multi-disciplined project design team for special purpose equipment and interfacing systems.
Prepare and review complex calculations and mechanical system designs.
Prepare input for drawings (P&IDs, layouts, general arrangements) and equipment specifications.
Interface with customers in project meetings and mentor junior engineers.
