Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a Lead Engineer for Mechanical & Fuel Handling ASME to shape the design development of Natrium reactor structures and components. You will lead design activities, certify DS/DR per ASME III, and collaborate with engineers and scientists to advance next‑gen nuclear technology.

You will mentor junior engineers, ensure code compliance, and coordinate with quality teams and regulators to support licensing and certifications.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; MS preferred.
• 6+ years of equipment design experience, preferably with nuclear components.
• Experience applying ASME Section III nuclear design requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform design, analysis, and documentation for ASME Section III HB pressure boundaries and HG internals.
• Develop and maintain design specifications, calculations, load evaluations, and qualification reports.
• Prepare and certify engineering design packages with code-compliant calculations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define design requirements and resolve issues.
• Interface with quality teams, reviewers, and regulators to support audits and reviews.
• Support material selection, fabrication, inspection criteria, and acceptance standards.
• Participate in engineering change processes, nonconformance evaluations, and corrective actions.
• Maintain knowledge of ASME III revisions, NRC guidance, and industry practices.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers as needed.
