Job summary

kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP company, is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Dallas, TX to design complex cooling and HVAC systems while leading projects and a team of mechanical engineers.

You will produce high-quality deliverables, coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams and clients, mentor junior staff, and manage project scope, budgets, and schedules across mission-critical data center environments.

Qualifications

• Proven history of Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with mechanical building systems emphasis.
• 7+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for high performing, commercial, industrial or data center buildings.
• Experience mentoring and training others in the field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact well with others and contribute to high quality deliverables.
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and codes.
• Commitment to safety policies and practices.
• Flexible to varying schedules and able to adapt under pressure.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality technical and professional deliverables for projects and proposals.
• Design complex air distribution and hydronic systems.
• Design building automation controls systems and specifications for large systems.
• Work with multi-discipline teams to develop drawings and specifications for architects, contractors and owners.
• Attend client meetings and lead discussions.
• Communicate mechanical decisions to clients and stakeholders.
• Direct mechanical engineering requirements and integrate into facility designs.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors/manufacturers.
• Act as lead mechanical engineer and direct project teams.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers.
• Perform project management: proposals, budgets, and client interactions.
• Coordinate technical development, scheduling, and issue resolution.
• Survey existing conditions.
• Perform construction administration.
