Job summary

kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP company, seeks a Mechanical Department Lead in Herndon, VA to design complex cooling and HVAC systems and lead a team of mechanical engineers. The ideal candidate has 12+ years in mechanical/building systems, PE licensure, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Proven history of Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with mechanical building systems emphasis.
• 12+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for high-performing commercial/industrial or data center buildings.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Experience mentoring and training others in the field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact well with others and contribute to high-quality deliverables on projects and proposals.
• Uphold workplace safety and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality technical and professional deliverables for projects and proposals.
• Design complex air distribution and hydronic systems for large facilities.
• Design automatic building automation controls systems and specifications for large systems.
• Lead project teams and coordinate with vendors, architects, and owners.
• Attend client meetings and lead discussions; communicate engineering concepts clearly to stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and manage project scope and budgets.
• Perform project management activities including proposals, budgets, and client interactions.
