Job summary

WSP USA’s Milwaukee office seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to design complex cooling and HVAC systems for data centers and mission critical environments. You will lead projects and a team of mechanical engineers, coordinating with vendors and clients to deliver robust solutions.

The role requires strong communication, mentoring of junior staff, and the ability to travel to client sites as needed. This is a senior position with growth opportunities within a global engineering leader.

Qualifications

• Proven history of Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with mechanical building systems emphasis.
• 7+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for high performing commercial, industrial or mission critical/data center buildings.
• Experience mentoring and training others in the field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interact well with others and contribute to high quality deliverables on projects and proposals.
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems and codes.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to policies.
• Must be flexible to a variety of schedules and able to adapt under pressure.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering projects and direct the project team.
• Design complex cooling and HVAC systems including air distribution and hydronic systems.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers.
• Attend client meetings and lead discussions.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors/manufacturers.
• Manage proposals, budgets, and client interactions.
• Develop drawings and specifications for issuance.
• Ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.
• Oversee construction administration and project development tasks.
