Job summary

AvalonBay Communities, Inc. is seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician in Carrollton, TX to lead maintenance efforts across HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general repairs. You will diagnose issues, repair systems, and ensure turn-key readiness of apartments while mentoring Technicians I & II.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of maintenance experience including HVAC, plumbing and electrical work.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• HVAC (CFC) certifications or willingness to learn.
• On-call schedule rotation with the team.
• Ability to read policies and communicate with residents and staff.
• Knowledge of PPE and safe work practices.
• Familiarity with emergency shutoffs and basic systems maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing and major appliances.
• Create and organize work orders; complete repairs timely.
• Ensure vacant homes and garages are rent-ready with turnkey work.
• Train and supervise Maintenance I/II staff and oversee projects.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspect grounds daily.
• Maintain safety culture and adhere to AVB policies.
• Perform hot works per AVB standards when needed.
