Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Wilson, NC is seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician for 2nd shift (3:00pm–11:30pm ET) to lead maintenance activities, troubleshoot complex equipment, and mentor technicians. This role ensures safe, reliable operations and strong alignment with production and site leadership.

You will act as the senior on the shift, prioritize work, coordinate emergencies, improve equipment reliability, and uphold LOTO and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience serving as a lead, senior technician or equivalent technical leadership capacity.

Responsibilities

• Act as senior maintenance lead on shift, providing technical leadership and advanced troubleshooting.
• Prioritize and assign maintenance work based on production needs, equipment criticality, and urgency.
• Coordinate emergency repairs and troubleshooting activities to minimize downtime.
• Identify equipment reliability concerns and recurring failures and elevate issues requiring additional technical or management support.
• Mentor, coach, and support onboarding, training, and development of maintenance technicians.
• Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout (LOTO), safety procedures, and safe work practices.
• Communicate equipment status, major issues, downtime, and shift activities to maintenance and site management.
• Collaborate with Production and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve equipment issues and improve reliability and performance.
• Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) tasks are completed on schedule and meet required quality standards.
