Job summary

BMCHS is seeking a Laboratory Technical Assistant (LTA) to manage daily workflow, train LTAs and phlebotomy students, and ensure timely phlebotomy services. The role covers coverage and collaboration across departments, with emphasis on skill advancement and adherence to safety policies.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, phlebotomy and lab experience, and preferably Phlebotomy Certification. Weekend and holiday rotations are required; familiarity with Meditech LIS is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy experience and lab experience required.
• Graduate of Phlebotomy Training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Training of all new LTAs and students, maintaining current competency checklists.
• Coordinates and monitors activities of the LTAs on assigned shifts.
• Distributes work assignments and acts as a liaison between the Laboratory and other Departments.
• Has demonstrated advanced skills in specimen collection and LIS troubleshooting.
• Reviews specimen status reports hourly to ensure tests are obtained and time constraints noted.
