Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking a Specialist-Engineer for its Shreveport, LA area to support automation, control systems, and field plant operations. The role involves collaboration with Automation Engineers on DCS/PLC projects, troubleshooting, and ensuring safe, reliable plant performance.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in industrial automation, proficiency in PLC programming (RSLogix-5/5000) and WonderWare HMI/SCADA, and a strong safety and compliance mindset. Travel and on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

2–5 years of experience in operations, maintenance and/or capital project support of industrial automation systems.
Familiarity with natural gas processing and compression facilities and related equipment.
Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting (RSLogix-5/5000) and HMI development (WonderWare or equivalent).
Strong communication, planning, and teamwork skills.
Ability to work with minimum supervision and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

Support installation, maintenance, and operation of gas gathering plant automation and controls to improve efficiency.
Collaborate with Automation Engineers on design and implementation of projects using major DCS/PLC/Safety Systems or SCADA platforms.
Troubleshoot automation and compressor controls issues; maintain PLC programs and safety systems.
Maintain HMI node programs and support HMI hardware, including Emergency Shutdown and safety systems.
Provide technical input during capital project phases (scoping, design review, commissioning).
Support SCADA data transfer to Gas Control and COMET II applications; align with company standards.
