Job summary

Boardwalk Pipelines, LP in Channelview, TX seeks a Regional Automation Leader to serve as the automation expert across liquid assets. The role requires guiding SCADA, PLC/HMI, and electrical systems, with extensive regional travel for commissioning, testing, and start-up tasks.

The candidate will develop and manage automation scopes, budgets, and vendor relationships, while ensuring safety, compliance, and maintainability across asset lifecycles.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of industrial automation experience in liquid or gas transmission facilities.
• Strong knowledge of pumping facilities and associated equipment.
• Hands-on proficiency with PLC and HMI platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Citect, Wonderware.
• Ability to read, develop, or review control logic, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, electrical one-lines, schematics, I/O schedules, panel designs, BOMs, and network architectures.
• Knowledge of NEC and hazardous area classifications, and industrial electrical standards.
• Experience supporting geographically distributed assets and providing advanced technical support both locally and remotely.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced on-call and onsite troubleshooting for PLC, HMI, SCADA, and equipment issues.
• Resolve high-impact automation reliability issues; investigate failures and implement corrective measures.
• Develop, modify, commission, and support control systems for pumps, stations, and SCADA systems.
• Lead review and approval of automation deliverables including P&IDs, diagrams, and BOMs.
• Develop scopes of work, budgets, procurement strategies, and commissioning plans.
• Lead FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, and documentation turnover.
• Champion automation projects including cost management and contractor coordination.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, safety procedures, and automation documentation.
• Support modernization of obsolete PLCs, HMIs, networks, and vendor systems.
• Lead development and support of regional I&E personnel and qualification programs.
• Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, SCADA, IT/OT, vendors, and contractors.
