Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking an Automation Engineer to support and troubleshoot compressor station automation, DCS, PLC, and HMI systems. You will work with Operations, Environmental Representatives, and Capital Projects on design, commissioning, and troubleshooting of gas compression facilities. The role requires 2–5 years in automation, strong PLC/HMI skills, and knowledge of NEC and safety standards. Travel up to 40-50%.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in operations, maintenance and/or capital project support of industrial automation systems.
• Familiarity with natural gas compression facilities and rotating machinery.
• Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting; experience with Rockwell RSLogix-5 and RSLogix-5000.
• Experience with WonderWare HMI/SCADA implementation or equivalent.
• Knowledge of NEC and 192 DOT Pipeline Safety Regulations.
• Strong communication, planning, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve automation and compressor controls issues.
• Maintain and troubleshoot turbines, engines, and PLC programs in unit controllers and stations.
• Support SCADA data transfer to Gas Control and COMETII.
• Assist in capital project scoping, design reviews, and commissioning.
• Provide technical input during training and knowledge sharing with Operations Specialists.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance and reliability of plant systems.
