Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Hydraulic Structures Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team and advance designs for flood control, hydroelectric and water resource projects.

You will lead project teams, prepare scopes, budgets and schedules, review design criteria, and coordinate with clients and internal disciplines. Occasional site visits and travel (20–40%) are expected as projects span national and international opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering.
• Professional engineer (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design hydraulic structures related to flood control and water projects.
• Lead project teams of structural engineers and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Prepare project proposals with scopes, budgets and schedules.
• Forecast workload and schedules.
• Prepare contract documents including drawings and specifications.
• Provide engineering services during construction and review shop drawings.
• Conduct inspections and structural assessments of existing structures.
• Prepare and present technical presentations to teams and clients.
• Perform risk analyses for hydraulic structures and manage risk workshops.
• Manage tasks on large projects and mentor junior staff.
• Review work for quality and ensure codes and standards compliance.
• Monitor budgets and schedules; participate in BD and recruiting activities.
