Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking an experienced Lead Refrigeration Systems Engineer to join our Trane Commercial Systems organization. You will lead design and integration for Water-to-Water product lines, modeling performance and driving reliability across global teams.

You will collaborate with Chiller Engineering, Compressor Engineering, and Controls groups, guiding system architectures and validating designs through rigorous testing and DFMEA-driven processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 10+ years of engineering experience required.
• HVAC background with chilled and heating water systems.
• Experience with product design, BOMs, engineering specs, and manufacturing.
• Experience launching products meeting UL/CSA/CE agency standards.
• Understanding of statistics as applied to product reliability.
• Ability to apply heat transfer and fluid flow concepts to real-world problems.
• Experience with Data & Analytics and programming is a plus.
• Strong verbal and technical writing skills; self-motivated and capable of mentoring others.
• Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Design and innovate HVAC refrigeration systems to meet performance and sustainability targets.
• Lead major system development projects and manage schedules and milestones.
• Create and use computer models to simulate unit performance and analyze issues.
• Govern and lead design reviews (FMEA, DFMEA, DVP&R, Risk Analysis).
• Develop mechanical designs for HVAC systems leveraging chiller/heat pump architecture.
• Incorporate DFM features to support efficient factory builds.
• Develop and execute test plans, analyze data, and apply Six Sigma methods.
• Provide technical guidance and collaborate with product teams to meet objectives.
• Support field and factory problem resolution and qualification testing.
• Travel as needed to support projects and customer interactions.
