Job summary

Walmart is seeking an HVAC/R Technician in Bastrop, TX to install, calibrate, and troubleshoot commercial refrigeration and building control systems. You will interpret schematics, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate with service providers while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

The role includes leading field teams, mentoring less-experienced staff, and supporting on-call rotations. A valid HVAC/R certification, EPA refrigerant handling credentials, and a state license

Qualifications

• HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
• 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
• EPA certification for refrigerant handling (Type I & II or Universal).
• HVAC‑R/Mechanical Journeyman where required.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass MVR.
• Clean driving record with no DUI/DWI/OUI in last 5 years and limited moving violations in past 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Installs HVAC and refrigeration systems including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics.
• Configures and calibrates low ambient systems and direct digital controls.
• Interprets layout plans and schematics for correct system setup and code compliance.
• Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial/industrial systems.
• Implements preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
• Maintains and repairs rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units.
• Operates and maintains Energy Management Systems; performs routine checks and coordinates repairs.
• Leads field teams, mentors technicians and apprentices on procedures and safety.
• Coordinates service calls and manages workload using scheduling tools.
