Job summary

Macy's is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the safe operation and maintenance of HVAC and electrical building systems across multiple sites. This role emphasizes preventative maintenance, system diagnostics, and coordination with installation personnel to ensure standards and reliability.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years’ experience in commercial HVAC, EPA certification, and strong communication skills. The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and offers a competitive benefits

Qualifications

• EPA Universal Certification required for handling refrigerants.
• 5+ years of experience diagnosing and repairing commercial HVAC systems.
• Proficiency with air- and water-cooled chiller systems and monitoring
• Strong communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution and control equipment.
• Understanding of BMS strategies and low/Control voltage circuit troubleshooting.
• Ability to lead cross‑department collaborations and manage projects.
• Analytical skills for data-driven problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Service, diagnose, and troubleshoot HVAC equipment including RTUs, chillers, pumps, and gearboxes.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance across multiple sites.
• Use CMMS to complete work orders in a timely manner.
• Perform electrical system maintenance including transformers, switchgear, and generators.
• Install or replace VFDs and monitor BAS components and sensors.
• Communicate effectively with peers, management, and customers.
• Train and mentor colleagues and ensure adherence to standards.
