Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transmission Line Project Engineer in Chicago, IL to lead technical execution of high‑voltage transmission line projects, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery that meets HDR and client quality standards.

The role partners with the Project Manager and involves oversight of design, construction, budgeting, and quality management across multiple concurrent projects. HDR offers comprehensive benefits and a strong employee‑owned culture.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Experience with power transmission line projects and project execution.
Proficiency in PLS-CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe and Revit.

Responsibilities

Lead overall technical direction of projects.
Scope and schedule support to the PM, including work breakdown structure development, change management, and schedule management.
Budget support to the PM for proposal development, progress assessment, and change management.
Lead multiple projects concurrently, managing teams in different locations.
Implement HDR Quality Management System (QMS) requirements to deliver world‑class quality products.
Coordinate scheduling and perform quality reviews for all deliverables, ensuring appropriate reviewers are assigned.
Participate in quality control or project reviews for peers and other project teams.
Coordinate resource planning and management with operations leaders and the PM.
Work independently and may mentor, train, or supervise EITs, CAD designers, and administrative staff.
Independently coordinate the work of engineers throughout the project life cycle.
Engage in mentoring or training relationships with junior engineers or designers.
