Job summary

Dewberry is expanding its Energy Market Sector and seeks a Senior Physical Electrical Engineer to lead the growth of our HV substation design practice. You will direct cross‑functional teams, mentor engineers, and deliver technically sound, compliant designs for utilities and government clients.

The role emphasizes leadership, project management, and standards development, with experience in protection and control systems supporting critical infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering.
• 20+ years of experience including medium/high voltage substation design.
• PE license is required.
• Experience designing HV substations and producing design deliverables.
• Strong leadership and staff mentoring skills.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA Life Safety Codes, and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to develop and capture new business.
• Coordinate with Energy PMO leadership and client managers.
• Develop responses to RFPs and qualifications, including cost proposals.
• Serve as Project Manager for complex projects.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline teams and manage project finances.
• Mentor staff and ensure quality management system adherence.
• Provide technical and quality oversight and establish design standards.
