Job summary

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) in Vincennes, IN is seeking a Highway Heavy Equipment Mechanic Supervisor to ensure safe, reliable operation of our fleet and to lead a small maintenance team within budget constraints.

Responsibilities include diagnosing urgent repairs, performing preventive diagnostics, scheduling maintenance, and coordinating daily shop work. A CDL is required, with onsite training and CDL endorsements supported by INDOT.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or Class B CDL and endorsements required within first 90 days.
• Extensive knowledge of heavy and light-duty vehicle repair.
• Strong safety practices for repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electronic engine control systems.
• Troubleshoot sensors and hydraulic control units.
• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance.
• Maintain repair records and shop manuals.
• Supervise and coordinate shop staff and tasks.
• Operate welding equipment and repair tools.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
