Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Plymouth Shop is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, snowfighting vehicles, and roadside trucks. You will diagnose issues, replace major components, and assist with overhauls in a safety‑focused environment.

Qualifications

• CDL required or obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Strong knowledge of automobile functions, systems and repairs.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to understand mechanical procedures and interpret technical information.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild, replace, and repair major parts on cars, trucks, heavy equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and tire work; maintain exhaust, fuel, electrical systems.
• Install snowplow blades and repair plow assemblies.
• Maintain EMS records of parts used and work performed.
• Provide emergency roadside service and attend safety trainings.
