Job summary

Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Martinsville Unit is hiring for a roadway maintenance role. You will operate equipment, perform inspections, and support construction and testing activities across highways and bridges.

CDL is required or obtainable within 90 days, with CDL incentives and onsite training. The position involves winter operations, signing and marking tasks, and coordinating with contractors to uphold standards.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass drug test as a condition of employment.
• Knowledge of highway guidelines, INDOT specs and testing procedures.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical documents.
• Ability to independently lead and coordinate field crews.
• Must endure exposure to inclement weather and lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment for repair and cleaning of highways.
• Ensure work assignments are completed and report issues to supervisors.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure compliance with standards.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Inspect and maintain equipment; assist with preventative maintenance.
• Maintain and install traffic signs and markings.
• Respond to emergencies with traffic control and barricades.
