Job summary

The State of Indiana, via INDOT (Boyle Unit), is hiring for a CDL-equipped supervisor to lead maintenance teams across highway and winter operations in Indiana. The role focuses on assigning work, ensuring resources, and maintaining safety standards while guiding staff development and performance.

Requires a valid CDL (Class A or B) or the ability to obtain one within 90 days, strong maintenance knowledge, and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.
• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one within 90 days.
• Specialized knowledge of highway maintenance, bridges, roads, equipment and related standards.
• Supervisory experience of multiple employees (minimum 1 year).
• Able to submit to and pass a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Experience in transportation operations.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Assign work to units ensuring materials and equipment are available.
• Ensure efficient use of personnel, time and equipment for each task.
• Supervise a unit or group of employees and explain job purpose and programs.
• Oversee operations and maintenance to meet work orders on schedule with minimal interruptions.
• Support winter operations including snow/ice removal and brine equipment maintenance.
• Assist with implementing/improving programs, procedures, and project planning.
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train staff; provide development opportunities.
• Set expectations, measure progress, give feedback, and evaluate performance.
