Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation System Protection Engineer to join our team.

This role focuses on high voltage substation design projects, protection and control specifications, and SCADA/communications work for utility and renewable interconnection projects. The engineer will work with internal and external stakeholders to meet project milestones, apply rigorous QA/QC, and provide technical leadership across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 8 years related experience in high voltage substation design – System Protection and Communication.
• PE License is preferred.
• Proficiency with protection and control software and relay settings.
• Experience with NERC System Protection Coordination requirements (PRC-001, PRC-027).
• Familiarity with NEC and National Electrical Safety Code.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection and control specifications for high voltage and EHV substations.
• Prepare SCADA and communications specifications and I/O mappings.
• Create and review one-line and three-line diagrams, and control/SCADA schematics.
• Provide QA/QC on project deliverables and provide technical support to field personnel.
• Coordinate with P&C design team and other project disciplines to meet project milestones.
• Mentor junior engineers and support ROI-focused improvements.
