Job summary

The Lourie Center Head Start at Adventist HealthCare in Riverdale invites an experienced Head Start Lead Teacher to join our mission of holistic care and child development. You will create a safe learning environment and guide early education using developmentally appropriate practices.

Responsibilities include analyzing assessment data from Teaching Strategies GOLD to tailor curriculum, maintaining records, collaborating with coaches, and supporting families through home visits and transitions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Child Development or related field is required
• 3 years working directly with children in an approved setting
• Must have valid driver's license
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities

• Create and establish a safe, healthy learning environment that provides physical and emotional safety
• Provide emotional support through establishing a positive climate, being aware of and responsive to children, and encouraging child expression and autonomy
• Analyze assessment data from Teaching Strategies GOLD to guide curriculum, transition, and individual/group plan decisions
• Implement the assigned curriculum using a variety of modalities and materials to provide developmentally appropriate instructional support
• Maintain accurate written records, including assessments, special education documentation, screening instruments, anecdotal notes, and documents for transition to public school and parent/teacher and home visits; complies with deadlines set by supervisor
• Use strategies for behavior management, such as clear behavior expectations, being proactive and redirecting misbehavior
• Attend and participate in trainings with coach, develop PDP for own professional development

Education

Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Child Development or related field
