Job summary

Lourie Center Head Start at Adventist HealthCare seeks an experienced Head Start Teacher II to join a faith-based, community-focused program serving families with children from birth to five. The role emphasizes creating safe learning environments, supporting emotional development, and using ongoing assessments to tailor instruction.

Responsibilities include curriculum delivery, meticulous record-keeping, behavior management, and active participation in trainings and professional development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Child Development or related field.
• 3 years working directly with children in an approved setting.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Create and establish a safe, healthy learning environment that provides physical and emotional safety.
• Provide emotional support through establishing a positive climate, being aware of and responsive to children, and encouraging child expression and autonomy.
• Analyze assessment data derived from ongoing observations in Teaching Strategies GOLD to guide curriculum, transition, and individual/group plan decisions.
• Implement the assigned curriculum using a variety of modalities and materials to provide developmentally appropriate instructional support.
• Maintain accurate written records, including assessments, special education documentation, screening instruments, anecdotal notes, and documents for transition to public school and parent/teacher and home visits; complies with deadlines set by supervisor.
• Use strategies for behavior management, such as clear behavior expectations, being proactive and redirecting misbehavior.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled trainings such as community of practices, engage in coaching cycles with assigned coach, reflective supervision and in collaboration with the manager develop PDP for own professional development.

Education
