Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Technical Trades Assistant Supervisor to oversee daily operations, maintenance, and repair of campus grounds equipment, including outdoor power tools and heavy machinery. You will lead staff, assign work, and ensure safety and reliability in line with university standards.

The role requires hands-on supervision, knowledge of preventative maintenance, and the ability to manage timecards, work orders, and training records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; two years supervisory experience.
• Five years small-engine repair and five years operating heavy equipment.
• Experience with outdoor power equipment and maintenance tracking.
• Must lift 50 lbs and have basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee equipment maintenance and repairs, including preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and service of outdoor power equipment.
• Operate and supervise heavy grounds and landscape equipment to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Supervise upkeep of facilities, work areas, storage yards, and departmental spaces to ensure a safe and organized environment.
• Complete administrative documentation, including timecards, work orders, training records, and labor reporting.
• Perform other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
