Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Landscape Technician to perform semi-skilled grounds maintenance to preserve the health and appearance of campus landscapes in Austin, TX. You will operate a range of landscape equipment and support irrigation, planting and seasonal tasks, contributing to a safe, well-kept campus environment.

Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, installing landscape elements, reporting hazards, and working with others to meet university standards.

Qualifications

• High school or GED completed; able to communicate with staff and university community.
• Experience operating commercial landscape equipment such as tractors and riding mowers.
• Ability to perform landscape maintenance and construction tasks.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate landscape equipment including mowers, tractors, loaders, sweepers and trimmers.
• Install, maintain and repair campus landscape and hardscape according to university standards.
• Irrigate and care for turf, trees and shrubs while following water restrictions.
• Keep grounds clean, report safety hazards, and assist with inventory and PPE.
• Perform routine vehicle operation and complete time reports as required.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE; work independently or with a team.
