Job summary

ABB is seeking a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Commissioning Engineer to lead on-site commissioning of GIS and RMU systems, ensuring safety, accuracy, and compliance with relevant standards. You’ll create work plans, cost estimates, and MOPs while coordinating with customers, EPCs, and ABB teams.

The role requires 10+ years of experience, ABB GIS/RMU knowledge, and 40–50% travel. The work model is remote in the US for the ELSE Data Center Services Center of Excellence.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
10+ years of commissioning and field engineering experience.
Strong experience with ABB GIS (ZX Portfolio) and RMU (SafeRing / SafePlus).
Experience with ABB Protection & Control platforms (ZEE600, SSC600, PCM600).
Willingness to travel 40–50%.

Responsibilities

Lead commissioning of ABB GIS and RMU systems per standards and IEEE/IEC/ANSI.
Develop commissioning work plans, cost estimates, schedules, and MOPs.
Support execution through energization and customer acceptance.
Assist FAT/IFAT and interface with customers and ABB teams.
Identify risks and drive mitigation actions; mentor junior engineers.
