Job summary

ABB is seeking a GIS Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning of medium-voltage GIS and RMU systems remotely from the US. You will drive work plans, risk assessments, FAT/IFAT support, and interface with customers and ABB teams, delivering safe, compliant commissioning to high standards.

The role requires 10+ years of field experience, ABB GIS/RMU expertise, and the ability to travel up to 50%. This position supports the ELSE Data Center Services Center of Excellence in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of commissioning and field engineering experience.
• Strong experience with ABB GIS (ZX Portfolio) and RMU (SafeRing / SafePlus).
• Experience with ABB Protection & Control platforms (ZEE600, SSC600, PCM600).
• Knowledge of generator paralleling systems and critical power infrastructure.
• Proficient technical writing skills for commissioning documentation.
• Ability to travel 40-50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning of ABB GIS and RMU systems per ABB standards and IEEE/IEC/ANSI requirements.
• Create commissioning work plans, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and MOPs.
• Support execution and manage commissioning activities through energization and customer acceptance.
• Support FAT/IFAT.
• Interface with customers, EPCs, utilities, and ABB teams.
• Identify commissioning risks and lead mitigation actions.
• Support contract managers with technical input related to scope and claims.
• Perform site visits to support commissioning teams.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
