Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering seeks a Senior Engineer to lead geotechnical projects within our Construction Materials Testing group. You will oversee investigations, mentor staff, and grow our geotechnical capabilities across municipal, industrial, residential, and commercial projects.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, client collaboration, and adherence to regulations, with opportunities to advance within a growing firm. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with geotechnical focus.
• 6–8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Licensed PE in SC or NC; able to license in additional southeastern states within six months.
• Knowledge of geotechnical design and construction requirements.
• Knowledge of geosynthetics.
• Travel up to 10% for site meetings and client development within the southeastern US.
• Regulations, subsurface geology, soil/rock mechanics, hydrogeology, and site assessment knowledge.
• Experience with field investigation techniques (drilling, sampling, logging).
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor staff.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment.
• Strong technical expertise and project management skills.
• Interpret environmental data to meet project objectives.
• Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Knowledge of soils laboratory testing procedures and practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert interpretation of analytical data for a wide variety of projects.
• Lead geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, drilling oversight, sampling, and field data collection.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, maps, and presentations for clients, regulators, and internal teams.
• Ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and quality in deliverables.
• Act as a technical lead for complex environmental investigations and remediation projects.
• Manage multiple projects with quality, budget, and schedule control.
• Direct field operations including subcontractor oversight, drilling, sampling, and logging.
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
• Stay current with evolving industry regulations, best practices, and technologies.
• Contribute to operational improvements and technical initiatives within the firm.
• Review delegated project deliverables by team members.
• Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams.
