Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to own the NBA platform's orchestration and state machine, writing Node.js/TypeScript code on Temporal and leading a small team to deliver durable, scalable action delivery across member journeys.

You will design durable workflows, manage activation to Adobe Experience Platform, and collaborate with cross‑team partners to ensure correct, timely execution with strong observability and reliability.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of full stack software engineering with senior-lead experience.
• Strong Node.js/TypeScript backend experience in production services.
• Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration platforms, preferably Temporal.
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals with event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing Kafka producer/consumer patterns in production.
• Experience with cloud-native systems on Azure or similar, using Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Clear ability to lead a small pod and communicate architecture and risks.

Responsibilities

• Pod delivery—own end-to-end delivery for the orchestration pod and on-time shipping.
• Workflow orchestration—design durable, long-running Temporal workflows modeling the member action lifecycle.
• Action delivery architecture—own end-to-end delivery pipeline from decision publication to receipt processing.
• Activation integrations—define delivery contracts and publish via Kafka to downstream channels.
• Hands-on development—contribute code for Temporal workflows, Node.js services, and Kafka components.
• Technical decisions—make day-to-day architecture choices for the pod including retries and idempotency.
• Distributed systems reliability—engineer for correctness in an asynchronous environment with exactly-once semantics.
• Observability and operations—establish monitoring, tracing, and alerting across pipelines.
• Team leadership—mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, maintain engineering standards.
• Cross-team coordination—interface with decisioning, activation systems, and platform teams.
