Humana, Inc. is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to own the NBA platform's orchestration and state machine, ensuring durable workflows, timely activations, and reliable delivery across member engagement channels.

Built in Node.js/TypeScript on Temporal, this role combines hands-on coding with technical leadership: you’ll write code, mentor a small team, and own end-to-end delivery, observability, and reliability in a scalable, enterprise-grade environment.

Qualifications

• BS in computer science or related field.
• 6+ years of full-stack software engineering with 1–2 years in a tech-lead capacity.
• Strong Node.js/TypeScript backend experience.
• Hands-on with workflow orchestration platforms; Temporal preferred.
• Experience designing Kafka producer/consumer patterns.
• Experience operating cloud-native systems on Azure or equivalent.
• Ability to lead a small pod and communicate architecture.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery for the orchestration pod, including planning, execution, quality, and shipping on time.
• Design and build durable, long-running workflows on Temporal in Node.js/TypeScript.
• Own the end-to-end action delivery pipeline from decision publication through activation and receipt processing.
• Own components that activate decisions and publish through Kafka output patterns to downstream channels.
• Contribute code alongside the team (workflows, services, Kafka, integrations).
• Make day-to-day architecture decisions for workflow design, state machine modeling, retries, idempotency, and API contracts.
• Engineer for correctness in a highly asynchronous environment with durable state and safe retries.
• Establish monitoring, tracing, alerting, and operational visibility across pipelines.
• Lead and mentor engineers and contractors; perform code reviews and ensure standards.
• Coordinate interfaces with related teams and surface risks early.
