Job summary

Humana, Inc. is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to own the NBA platform’s orchestration and state machine. You’ll lead a small engineering pod, write code in Node.js/TypeScript, and ensure durable workflow execution across member journeys using Temporal and Kafka patterns.

You will design end-to-end action delivery, activate decisions to platforms like AEP, and partner with platform teams. Remote/hybrid with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant area.
• 6+ years of full stack software engineering with 1–2 years in tech lead roles.
• Strong Node.js/TypeScript backend experience building production services.
• Hands-on workflow orchestration experience, Temporal preferred.
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals including event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing Kafka producer/consumer patterns in production.
• Experience building reliable event delivery systems with Transactional Outbox patterns.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small pod and own technical outcomes.
• Experience operating cloud-native systems on Azure with Kubernetes/CI/CD.
• Clear communicator to present architecture and delivery status to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end orchestration pod delivery, planning, execution, and quality.
• Design durable, long-running Temporal workflows modeling member action lifecycle.
• Own end-to-end action delivery from decision publication to receipt processing.
• Integrate activation to Adobe Experience Platform and Kafka outputs.
• Contribute code and lead in Temporal workflows, Node.js services, and Kafka.
• Make daily architecture decisions and manage retry, idempotency, and API contracts.
• Ensure reliability with idempotent consumers, deduplication, and safe retries.
• Establish observability with tracing, monitoring, and alerts.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate interfaces with related teams.
