Job summary

Mid Florida Eye seeks a patient-focused Lead Patient Service Representative for our multi-specialty ophthalmology practice in Wildwood, FL. You will be the welcoming first point of contact, supporting an efficient check-in/out process and accurate data collection.

Preferred candidates have 3+ years front desk experience in optometry/ophthalmology. You will travel between locations as needed and work early mornings, evenings, and weekends to support the office team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be compassionate and can establish confidence and trust with patients.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure or stress.
• Highly energetic with a positive attitude.
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Create and maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to perform as part of a team as well as work independently.
• 3+ years’ experience in a medical practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome all patients and visitors upon arrival to clinic.
• Follow all practice policies and procedures for check-in and check-out.
• Utilize multiple data collection methods including paper, electronic, kiosk, and web-based applications.
• Confirm accurate patient demographic and insurance information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and active coverage.
• Calculate and collect patient copayments, deductibles, and balances.
• Schedule return appointments and set reminders.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information.
• Keep reception area clean and organized.
• Assist with inventory of retail items if applicable.
• Answer inbound and outbound calls with proper etiquette.
• Handle confidential information discreetly.
• Perform duties professionally and courteously.
• Accept mail and packages for appropriate delivery.
• Must be willing to travel between locations and work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
