Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Patient Service Center Lead/Float Phlebotomist to cover multiple PSCs as needed. You will collect specimens, update patient demographics, and support the Phlebotomy Supervisor while traveling between sites to reduce wait times and ensure quality service.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team, with training and mentoring responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP or another accredited agency preferred.
• Previous experience as a phlebotomist preferred.
• One or more years previous experience working in lab Patient Service Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent phlebotomy and phlebotomy-related services for all patients.
• Validate and/or update patient demographics and information in the BILH system and enter information for new patients.
• Collect specimens according to established procedures for all age groups.
• Prepare specimens for transport to a BILH laboratory.
• Perform administrative and clerical duties to operate the PSC daily.
• Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring PSC Phlebotomists as requested.
• Travel to additional PSCs and doctor offices as needed.
• Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies and procedures.
• Report to the Phlebotomy Supervisor and participate in QA programs and continuing education.
