Job summary

Vercel is seeking an Engineer to lead the design and development of the Finance Data Platform, powering revenue reporting, consumption-based billing, financial forecasting, and compliance across the business.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Data Engineering, you will define the technical vision, collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, and RevOps, and build auditable pipelines using Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake to ensure data accuracy and SOX readiness.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related field.
• Proven track record designing and operating large-scale data infrastructures with Kafka ecosystem and data warehousing tools.
• Experience building data pipelines for financial reporting, billing, or revenue systems is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and big data services.
• Strong background in data governance, security, and compliance including audit support.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a data platform supporting revenue recognition and financial reporting across batch and real-time workloads.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, and RevOps to translate reporting requirements into architecture.
• Define guidelines for financial data ingestion, transformation, and storage with auditability and lineage.
• Lead by example and mentor engineers on technical craft and data governance in a high-accountability domain.
• Partner with Security, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit to ensure SOX and SOC 2 compliance.
