Job summary

Vercel, based in San Francisco, seeks a Senior Data Engineer to own the reliability of data used by Finance. You will build pipelines and data models turning billing and usage data into revenue, forecasting, and reporting infrastructure.

You will work with Finance stakeholders to ensure metrics are accurate and trustworthy, shaping how the business understands its financial performance. You will collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, and Revenue, set technical direction, mentor engineers, and raise

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering with ownership of production data pipelines end-to-end.
• Strong SQL and Python skills with production-grade, testable code.
• Hands-on experience with dbt and dimensional/data modeling, ELT/ETL workflows and orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster.
• Direct experience with Finance data, including usage-based billing or revenue metrics, and understanding of how they are defined and used.

Responsibilities

• Own pipelines that bring billing, usage, and contract data into the warehouse reliably across products.
• Diagnose and resolve data quality and freshness issues at the source.
• Design and maintain dbt models turning raw data into clean datasets for revenue recognition and forecasting.
• Set testing and documentation standards to ensure accuracy for Finance reconciliation.
• Build datasets and semantic models powering dashboards for planning and close.
• Promote self-service by reducing one-off data requests.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, and Revenue to align data needs with business questions.
• Maintain high engineering standards and mentor teammates.
