Job summary

Garney Construction seeks a Senior Coating Technician to manage day-to-day field tasks, train crew, and ensure coatings and related tests are performed safely and to spec.

The role requires at least 3 years in high-performance coating applications, leadership abilities, and the capacity to plan with supervisors. You will operate spray equipment, maintain pump systems, and drive site logistics as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in high-performance coating applications.
• Trains others in abrasive/water blasting, coatings, testing.
• Competent Person trained: confined space, fall protection, silica, scaffolding.
• Operates and maintains pump systems and spray equipment.
• Can drive a pickup with a trailer.
• Able to evaluate defective/damaged equipment and act.
• Participates in project planning meetings with the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

• Identify when to perform abrasive blasting, water blasting, injection grouting, coatings, and tests.
• Lead and coach others in STAC meetings.
• Communicate effectively with Foreman and Superintendent.
• Lead a team of laborers and technicians when required.
• Assess conditions and determine corrective actions.
• MOTIVATE the team to perform.
• Observe and report conditions to supervisor.
