Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Senior Coating Technician to lead daily field tasks and mentor technicians. You will perform coating operations, testing, and inspections with minimal supervision, and play a key role in safety and quality on site.

The role emphasizes training others, coordinating with the Foreman and Superintendent, and ensuring timely, correct completion of coating projects in the field. Strong leadership and hands‑on coating expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Trains others in abrasive blast, water blast, injection grouting, coatings, and testing
• Competent Person trained: confined space, fall protection, silica, and scaffolding
• Operate and maintain pump systems and spray equipment
• Safely drive a pickup truck with a trailer
• Evaluate defective or damaged equipment and take corrective action
• Engage in project planning meetings with Superintendent
• Minimum of 3 years in high‑performance coating applications

Responsibilities

• Identify when to perform abrasive blasting, water blasting, injection grouting, coatings, holiday test, and adhesion test
• Lead and coach others in STAC meetings
• Communicate effectively with Foreman & Superintendent
• Lead a team of laborers and technicians when required
• Assess conditions and determine corrective actions
• Motivate the team to perform
• Observe and report conditions to supervisor
