Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Senior Coating Technician in Virginia to own daily field tasks and mentor technicians. You will identify when to perform abrasive blasting, coatings, and tests, lead a crew, and coordinate with the Foreman and Superintendent to keep projects on track.

You will train others in blasting, coatings, and testing, ensure safety, operate pump systems and spray equipment, and travel to job sites with a trailer. This role offers growth and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in high-performance coating applications.
• Trains others to abrasive blast, water blast, injection grouting, coatings, and testing.
• Competent Person Trained: confined space, fall protection, silica, scaffolding.
• Ability to operate and maintain pump systems and spray equipment.
• Safely drive a pickup with trailer attached.

Responsibilities

• Identify when to perform abrasive blasting, water blasting, coatings, and testing.
• Lead and coach team during field operations and STAC meetings.
• Communicate effectively with Foreman and Superintendent.
• Lead a team of laborers and technicians as needed.
• Assess conditions and determine corrective actions.
• Maintain positive attitude and motivate the team.
• Observe and report conditions to supervisor.
