Job summary

ASML in San Diego seeks a senior Controls Engineer to design and implement advanced control algorithms for EUV light sources. You will lead development, testing and integration effort across lab benches and cleanrooms, with focus on stability, efficiency and production readiness.

The role requires strong Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, Python skills, five years’ experience, and the ability to mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree in Controls, Mechanical, Computer, Chemical, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering or Physics; Master's or PhD. preferred.
• Must have 5 years of relevant industry experience.
• Specialization in advanced control systems or plasma physics preferred.
• Courses in Linear systems, feedback control, optimization, signal processing and system identification highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert for control/optimization/subsystems and make independent decisions on technical issues.
• Perform feasibility studies, support roadmaps, advise on product definition and system specs.
• Monitor system architecture and coordinate testing and design verification.
• Coordinate testing in lab bench and cleanroom environments and ensure design approvals.
• Define system functionalities and architecture, ensure cross-program commonality, support decomposition.
• Plan and coordinate projects; ensure execution within PM guidelines.
• Communicate specifications to stakeholders to aid decision making and introduce new projects.
• Lead and mentor junior controls engineers to enable stable EUV production.
• Organize, develop and appraise team members; drive innovation in control systems.
• Apply knowledge of sensors, actuators, control algorithms, automation and data analysis to improve EUV power and availability.
• Lead integration activities, troubleshoot control systems and design test plans for factory and field use.
• Document work results with requirements, specs, procedures and training materials.
