Job summary

Teradyne is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and deliver electro-mechanical solutions for advanced test systems in the Defense & Aerospace division. You will translate customer needs into robust, manufacturable designs across new product introductions and existing platforms.

The role involves leading designs for cables, ITAs, and test fixtures, developing CAD models and drawings, and collaborating with engineering, program management, and customers to define requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of electro-mechanical design experience (cables, ITAs, test fixtures preferred).
• Strong proficiency with SOLIDWORKS (or similar CAD tools) and product data management systems.
• Experience with metal fabrication, machining, and mechanical design fundamentals (tolerancing, materials, thermal considerations).
• Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and cable/wire harness design standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of cables, ITAs, and custom test fixtures for automated test equipment.
• Develop and release detailed CAD models, drawings, and documentation from concept through production.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, program management, and customers to define requirements and solutions.
• Build and validate designs through analysis, prototyping, and testing.
• Support product lifecycle activities including sustaining engineering and design improvements.
• Partner with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to deliver cost-effective solutions.
