Job summary

Teradyne’s Test Development Engineering Manager in North Reading, MA leads a team of 8-10 engineers, guiding test strategy, hardware test equipment, and software for new product introductions in defense and aerospace. The role requires collaboration with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver reliable test capabilities.

The ideal candidate has a 5+ year background in test development, 2+ years in leadership, and strong experience with ATE, PCB test methods, and AI-assisted tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5+ years in test development
• 2+ years of people leadership experience
• Knowledge of ATE and manufacturing test processes
• Knowledge of C/C++/C#, .NET framework
• Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, waveform generators
• Knowledge of PCB test methodologies: ICT, AOI, X-ray, functional test
• Experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex or equivalent AI tooling
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Excellent verbal, written, organizational and analytical skills

Responsibilities

• Hire, mentor, develop, and retain test development staff
• Determine staffing levels and skills to satisfy commitments
• Balance in-house vs outsourced staffing needs
• Direct engineers on test process design and implementation
• Review test strategies for feasibility and completeness
• Own schedule, scope, and resource tradeoffs for production integration
• Serve as escalation point for factory operations and customer issues
• Drive metrics and defect trend analysis to guide testing direction
• Partner with design, manufacturing, quality and program teams
• Ensure Cyber Security and ISO 17025 compliance in production test
• Establish and maintain engineering development processes and tools
