Job summary

Teradyne in North Reading, MA is seeking a Test Development Engineering Manager to lead a team of 8–10 engineers responsible for test strategy, equipment, software, and procedures for Defense & Aerospace products. You will shape test capabilities across Analog, Digital, and Optical domains and partner with design, manufacturing, and quality teams.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years leadership, strong coaching, and experience with Automated Test Equipment, C/C++, and AI tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant test development or hardware/test engineering experience.
• 2+ years of leadership experience as a people manager, technical lead, or project lead, with ability to coach and develop engineers.
• Knowledge of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and manufacturing test processes.
• Experience with C/C++/C#, .NET framework.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, waveform generators.
• Familiarity with PCB test methodologies (In-circuit, AOI, X-ray, functional) and project management.

Responsibilities

• Hire, mentor, develop, and retain test development staff and cultivate a diverse team culture.
• Determine staffing levels and balance across concurrent projects.
• Direct work of engineers on test processes for Analog, Digital, and Optical equipment.
• Review test strategies for completeness and feasibility.
• Own schedule, scope, and resources for integrating new test processes into production.
• Escalation point for factory operations on hardware or software issues.
• Drive metrics and defect trend analysis to influence testing direction.
• Partner with design, manufacturing, quality, and program teams across the lifecycle.
