Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to join our team in Dallas, TX. The role focuses on designing, analyzing, and upgrading medium- and low-voltage power distribution and generation systems for industrial clients, from concept through commissioning.

You will lead the electrical scope on projects, mentor engineers, and coordinate with multiple disciplines while interfacing with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 3 years of electrical power systems engineering experience in an industrial, utility, or consulting environment.
• Demonstrated experience designing or modifying medium-voltage (1 kV to 38 kV) and low-voltage power distribution systems.
• Hands-on modeling and study experience in SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE standards for industrial power systems.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, relay logic, and vendor drawings.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites (approximately 10%).

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical scope on moderate to large projects, including scope definition and schedule input.
• Coordinate electrical work with mechanical, civil/structural, controls, and process disciplines.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and vendors; participate in design reviews and safety reviews.
• Develop and review electrical design deliverables: diagrams, schematics, and wiring interconnections.
• Design and upgrade medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems and equipment.
• Produce load lists, cable schedules, and design basis documents.
• Support energization, startup, and commissioning activities.
