Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Estimating Manager to drive bid and estimating efforts for complex solar and renewable projects. You will perform quantity take-offs, pricing, scoping, and bid preparation while supporting commercial construction operations.

You will lead design reviews, coordinate with engineers and suppliers, and build subcontractor relationships to obtain competitive advantages. This role emphasizes value-driven estimates and industry leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering and minimum of 2 years' equivalent experience required.
• General knowledge of Electrical principles and processes.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.
• Working knowledge of estimating technology and tools such as OST, Accubid, Tra-ser, and BIM related software.
• Excellent computer skills, and proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Attention to detail at a high level.
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values.
• Maintains a "value added" approach to estimating.

Responsibilities

• Support conceptual and detailed design of solar electrical systems.
• Lead discussions with Precon team to challenge design concepts.
• Perform quantity take-offs and price estimation.
• Assist in pricing and bidding of commercial, renewable, substation, and battery storage projects.
• Coordinate with engineers and consultants on scope, materials, and schedules.
• Prepare qualifications and assumptions aligned with contract requirements.
• Review electrical drawings, specs, calculations and studies.
• Review electrical studies including load flow and short circuit analysis.
• Conduct site visits and inspections as needed.
• Assist with final assembly of estimate for owner presentation.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and vendors for competitive bids.
• Attend industry events representing McCarthy.
